Privacy notice
This notice explains what happens to the details you send through the enquiry form and the Knowledge Panel checker on defineyourentity.com.
Last updated 28 October 2026.
What we collect
The answers you type into the enquiry form: the name Google should recognise, whether it is a person or a company, what Google shows for it today, a website if you give one, your name, your email address and anything else you choose to tell us.
To slow down automated spam, we also keep a one-way scrambled form of your internet address for ten minutes. It cannot be turned back into the address.
Why we use it
Only to reply to your enquiry and, where you ask us to, to look at how Google currently understands the name you gave. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: answering a request you made.
Where it is kept and for how long
Each enquiry is stored with Cloudflare, our hosting provider, for 365 days, and a copy is emailed to the team’s inbox so we can answer it. Cloudflare runs data centres around the world, so your details may be processed outside the UK.
We use no analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share your enquiry details with anyone else.
Names you check with the Knowledge Panel checker
When you run a check, we send the name you type to Google’s Knowledge Graph Search API, to DataForSEO (a search-data service that fetches Google’s results for us in the United Kingdom and the United States) and to Wikidata, and the KGMID, if you give one, to Google only. If you give a website, or Wikidata or the Knowledge Graph lists one for the name, we open it and the profiles it links to and read what they say.
Each result is stored with Cloudflare for 30 days, together with the name, the choice of person or company and any website or KGMID you typed, so that the link to the result keeps working. Anyone you share that link with can see the result. If the same details are checked again within 24 hours, we show the saved result instead of running the check again.
To limit how many checks one person can run, we keep a one-way scrambled form of your internet address for ten minutes. You can check any name, including someone else’s: the check reads only what Google and the web already show in public. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests: running the check you asked for. Nothing you type into the checker is used for marketing, and the name is never passed to analytics or advertising.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the details we hold about you, to ask us to correct or delete them, and to object to how we use them. You can ask at any time: reply to any email from us, or send a new enquiry saying what you need.
If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
